IMPORTANT PUBLIC NOTICE

From April 27 to May 29 2020, the Department of Environmental Service will proceed to its unidirectional flushing operation of the water supply network. This operation will be performed from Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during this period.

The unidirectional flushing is intended to dislodge deposits in the water mains and preserve high water quality. To do this, the water must be forced in one direction and subsequently be evacuated through fire hydrants.

During this operation, a temporary drop of pressure and/or a reddish colouring of the water may occur. Before any use of water, we recommend that you verify if the water is coloured. If the water is coloured, leave the cold water taps running until the water returns to its usual colour. Additionally, we recommend that you to do your laundry in the evening or the weekend during this period. Note that this discolouration will have no harmful effect on your health.

We thank you for your cooperation and for more information, please do not hesitate to contact us at 613-632-0106, extension 2020.

Avis Aqueduc

A special collection of waste, old furniture and anything not considered as household waste with the exception of hazardous waste and construction/demolition waste will take place according to the following schedule.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we ask that you comply with strict public health measures and that you limit to a minimum interaction with the employees during the collection activities. We also ask that you contact Gilles R. Mayer Sanitation Ltd. by phone (613) 632-2581 rather than in person for any questions and/or comments.
The rubbish must be deposited close to the sidewalk or the curb, but not on the street, during the weekend preceding the date of collection, no later than 6:30 a.m. on Monday morning. The collection will be completed ONLY ONCE PER STREET, but may be done on ANY DAY of the week in accordance with the schedule below. Furthermore, the contractor will complete the waste collection by types of waste. This means that the contractor will collect the totality of all acceptable waste in many trips to your property. Therefore, do not be surprised if one particular type of waste was collected but not another. At the end of your collection week, all acceptable waste will have been collected.
Please note that the special collection will be done from the EAST END to the WEST END of town.
Please note that the construction and demolition materials as well as tree branches are not considered as waste. In the event that you wish to dispose of these materials, contact your local sanitation provider to schedule the pick-up at your expense.
Branches of hedge trimmings will only be picked up if they are tied in bundles not exceeding 6’ long by 2’ in diameter. Also, please note that old cars are not considered as acceptable waste.
Tires will no longer be picked up but can be deposited free of charge at Gilles R. Mayer Sanitation Ltd., 194 County Road 17, Hawkesbury from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Following public health guidelines set out for the COVID-19 pandemic by the Government of Ontario, the Town of Hawkesbury has decided to postpone its annual Canada Day celebrations that were supposed to be held on Tuesday, June 30 and Wednesday, July 1st 2020.

With the provincial order in place that bans public gatherings of more than five people, we are simply following physical distancing rules which make these events impossible for the moment.

We are looking at alternate options to celebrate Canada’s birthday and once we have a plan in place, we will be sharing all of the details.
