SUMMARY OF THE POSITION Reporting to the Vice-President, Private Sales, Research & Development, the Category Manager will lead the execution of the Biscuits Leclerc business plan by assisting the sales team in the tactical execution of our plans, strategies, and product development. The Category Manager will be responsible for identifying specific customer and market opportunities and disseminating the information from his analysis. The individual will also assist the sales team in creating recommendations to solve specific customer issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and maintain standardized reports on customer metrics
- Lead and educate the sales team on higher level category management principles
- Develop Gold Standard Planograms to work with the sales team and identify opportunities
- Correct product assortment and efficient use of shelf space
- Tracking and measuring points of sale and promotional data to identify trends and new sales opportunities
- Proactively identify customer opportunities for Leclerc around the 4 Ps
- Complete and communicate post-games on key sales initiatives
- Analyze and communicate customer category trends
- Develop and present category-based analysis in support of key selling initiatives.
- Interpret category research and performance results and incorporate into actionable customer selling stories
- Develop category building ideas
- Participate in client meetings as a category expert
- General source of analysis around customer data
- Provides analysis and insights to drive customer team execution excellence and cost control initiatives via process improvement.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- University degree or equivalent college degree in business-related courses
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the Packaged Goods industry
- Complete working knowledge of A.C. Nielsen.
- Strong analytical background with proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- An appreciation of the Efficient Customer Response (E.C.R.) process and understanding of Category Management
- Be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Strong organizational skills
- Good communication skills, both oral and written – English and French
- Entrepreneurial flair an asset
